9/22 Minnesota Twins at Camden Yards

Posted by Dave on September 20th, 2006

Friday after work Sam, a friend from work who is from the Mankato area, and I are going up to Baltimore to see the Twins take on the Orioles.  We were lucky enough to score great seats, second row about 2/3rds of the way down third base line.  So if you get the game on TV, look for us in our Minnesota caps.

Minnesota 16 Carolina 13 (OT)

What a game!  I missed this game sunday since I was in Atlanta, but I’ve seen the highlights, and watched the condensed version on Comcast On-Demand where you see the game condensed to about 20 minutes by taking out all the time between plays and with plays of little importance (like a 2 yard run) removed.  Minnesota did just enough to win, Carolina did just enough to lose and I think we had a little luck thrown in.  Hopefully we’ll fare as well next week against the undefeted Bears.  Also all 3 of my fantasy teams won last week to bring my combined season record to 5-1.

Atlanta

I spent this past weekend in Atlanta visiting my girlfriend Ingrid. We had lots of fun, we visited Centenial Park which was built for the ‘96 Olympics. It features a ‘fountain of rings’ in which children run through under the hot Georgia sun. We also visited Atlanta Station and spent time at her mom’s house, who recently had surgery. I hadn’t been to Georgia since I was in basic training at Fort Jackson in ‘94, but I never made it up to down to Atlanta. I had lots of fun and look forward to visiting again.

Vikings 19 Redskins 16

I had to chance to go to the Vikings/Redskins game at FedEx field tonight.  The game was close and very exciting, the Redskins had a record attendance of over 90 thousand people.  I was decked out in purple, with a Kevin Williams jersey and a Vikings cap.  There were a smattering of viking purple here and there, but we were out numbered probably by a hundred to one.  We scored the go ahead field goal with about a minute and a half left, and Washington tried to mount a come back but their field goal attempt on 4th down from the 30 sailed wide left.
