Posted by Dave on August 15th, 2006Although the Vikings lost by 3, they had an opportunity to tie the score with a 35 yd field goal with 5 seconds remaining, but choose to try for the end zone for the win and avoid the chance of any more injuries. Vikings #1 pick from the draft Chad Greenway could be lost for the year with a knee injury.
The defense looked impoved and QBs Brad Johnson and Tarvaris Jackson looked good. I am concerned with the play of the offensive line, they did not block well in either the pass or the run, especially the run. I expect the line to get better, they have some new players and will take them a little while to gel. Next up: Sat Aug 19 at Pittsburgh.

Posted by Dave on August 4th, 2006NFL returns this weekend with the first preseason games. Minnesota plays their first preseason game Monday Aug 14th vs Oakland. It will be interesting to see Randy Moss play, although usually the starters only play the first series or two.
With the return of football comes the return of fantasy football! I’m signed up for three leagues, including a giant 18-team league that Barrett is running. 18 teams will make it very difficult to find productive backups, but it should be a good challenge. Last year I played in two leagues, placing second in one and third in the other.
